You are required to renew your license as an LPN, RN, or APRN in South Carolina before midnight on April 30, 2018, in order to continue to practice nursing in this state. A courtesy renewal notice will be mailed to you; however, it is not required by statute. It is an individual licensee’s responsibility to see that his/her own nursing license is renewed in a timely manner. Online renewal will be available beginning February 6, 2018, through 11:59 PM on April 30, 2018. Please note that you must have completed and documented your continued competency prior to renewing your license (and should reflect the period from May 1, 2016, to April 30, 2018). Do not send CE certificate information (for example) to the Board of Nursing unless requested to do so.
Online renewal is available twenty-four (24) hours a day. To access, please log onto https://eservice.llr.sc.gov/OnlineRenewals/ and then enter your user ID and password or select “Alternative Login – I do not know my User ID/Password” and complete the required security questions. For your convenience, your user ID was mailed to you on February 5th. If you do not know your password, go to the “Recover/Reset My Password” web link, and the link to reset your password will be emailed to you. If you do not have a current email address on file with the Board, please email the Board at NurseRenewal@llr.sc.gov with your name, license number, birth year and current email address. A current email address must be kept on file with the Board at all times.
You may pay for your renewal using VISA, MasterCard, Discover, AMEX, Diners Club or via an electronic check. You may also use a debit card, but it must have the VISA or MasterCard logo on the front of the card. The renewal fees for 2018 are as follows:
- LPNs and RNs – $75
- APRNs – $105
- APRNs with Prescriptive Authority – $145
After April 30, 2018, your license will lapse, and you will be subject to paying a late fee. It is illegal to practice on a lapsed license!
Once your renewal is completed, a confirmation email will be sent to you directly. The Board has a paperless process so you will no longer receive a wallet card after you renew your license for the 2018 -2020 renewal cycle. You can verify your license on Licensee Lookup on the Board’s website at https://verify.llronline.com/LicLookup/LookupMain.aspx within 3 business days of completing your renewal.
Should you encounter any problems with renewing your license online, please contact the Board by email at NurseRenewal@llr.sc.gov.
