March: Brain Injury Awareness Month
This month is Brain Injury Awareness Month. Brain injuries have been even more under the microscope lately because of movies such as Conscussion. If you haven’t seen this movie which is based on a true story, Will Smith plays Dr. Bennet Omalu who first discovered the degenerative brain disease chronic traumatic encephalopathy (CTE) deceased NFL players while he was working at a morgue in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
Aside from concussions in the NFL and how they affect the brain, there are many other types of brain injuries and each one varies in severity. It’s important that we are all aware of the needs of those with brain injuries and how we can help them on a daily basis.
